The Hobbit movies are finally on their way!

How much do you want to know about your food?

RFID tags are already used to trace everything from poker chips to hotel towels, but what if these little pellets were embedded directly within your lunch, providing everything you'd ever wanna know about that ham sandwich you're about to beast? That's the idea behind NutriSmart -- a food tracking system that revolves around edible RFID tags.

Would you pay to have RFID tags embedded in your food?

Would you rent out your car by the hour?

Getaround is a new person-to-person car sharing service which allows car owners to rent their vehicles to their neighbors. Members can rent and unlock cars with the Getaround iPhone app. The beta version of the service is currently available in the San Francisco Bay Area and San Diego.

If there was a network to rent your car out while you weren't using it, would you join? I would definitely want to be part of this if I didn't have a car, but as a car owner, the compensation would have to be pretty dang good.

Do you like (really) old movies?

There's a certain thing about old movies that really intrigues me. This one is no exception.

Never forget to personalize everything you do.

The topics you write about – and the way you pen the articles – will make or break you. There are thousands of excellent writers out there. Hundreds of people likely create the exact same type of content that you do each day. How the heck are you supposed to stand out when there is just so much already out there?

How will people ever be able to associate the things that you do with you if you don't put your mark on them?

How much effort does it take to make a good video?‏

A lot of people think that they can make great videos that will get thousands of views with just a Flip camera, but more often than not this is not true.  Take a look at how much effort goes into one of MysteryGuitarMan's videos.

Koenigsegg engineer building modern-day Volvo P1800 by Jeremy Korzeniewski

Mattias Vöcks is at it again. Back in 2006, the Swedish-born designer who normally spends his days hand-assembling supercars for Koenigsegg used the SEMA to debut his show-stopping custom 1967 Volvo Amazon that was once voted "Sweden's Hottest Volvo." That title may soon go out to another of Vöcks' stunning creations, this time based on the classic Volvo P1800 made famous in part as the car driven by Roger Moore in the British television series The Saint from the 1960s.

How to Haggle Like Your Old Man

"In life, you rarely get anything you don’t ask for. If you want something, you’d better do your part to get it. If you ask nicely, and you ask fairly, most people will go a long way to meet you in the middle."

In Praise of Skitch

"Throughout all of these iterations, Skitch has remained the perfect app for quick and easy image annotation. Everyone I’ve turned on to this app (ranging from my science teacher niece to my graphics artist friends) loves it. Today I came clean and finally paid for Skitch. How about you?"

Best Mother's Day Gift

Even though you have to brave the numerous old ladies that want to sell you something and the gay guy at the register who thinks your cute, you can't go wrong with a Pier 1 gift card. I don't understand why, but my mom loves that place.

No resistance in "cold-blooded" U.S. raid: Pakistan officials

ABBOTTABAD, Pakistan (Reuters) – Osama bin Laden and his comrades offered no resistance when killed by U.S. special forces in a Pakistani town, Pakistani security officials said on Thursday.

Maybe I'm just being ignorant, but I have a hard time believing representatives of a country that harbors terrorists.

Children Have Always Been Bad

"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. Osama Update

Yesterday was prom and I have school tomorrow, so I'm going to go to bed now rather than wait up for the press conference that keeps being delayed. I'll post some links to coverage of it though tomorrow. Goodnight!

Osama Is Dead

I'm sure you have probably heard already, but Osama Bin Laden has been killed. I will update you when I find out more!
