Look at You

“Look at you. You’re young. And you’re scared. Why are you so scared? Stop being paralyzed. Stop swallowing your words. Stop caring what other people think. Wear what you want. Say what you want. Listen to the music you want to listen to. Play it loud as fuck and dance to it. Go out for a drive at midnight and forget that you have school the next day. Stop waiting for Friday. Live now. Do it now. Take risks. Tell secrets. This life is yours. When are you going to realize that you can do whatever you want?”

Apple Stores to be rebranded as “Church of Apple”

Scoopertino

Cupertino, CA — If you’ve been following Apple religiously, your spirit is about to soar.

On May 1st, 2011, all 300+ Apple Stores will officially be closed. On May 2nd, they will reopen as something completely different: The Church of Apple.

“It’s a natural evolution,” explains acting CEO Tim Cook. “We’ve given our customers a place to shop. What they really want is a place to worship.”

As part of the relaunch, some of the Apple Store’s familiar features will be reborn.

Ailing products will no longer be repaired at the Genius Bar. Instead, they’ll be healed at the Miracle Bar, where Apple Angels (formerly Geniuses) will offer personal care — as well as end-of-life counseling — for all Apple computers and devices.

Apple Theaters in the bigger Apple Stores will be redesigned as Apple Chapels, with pews replacing individual seating. Worshippers will be able to sacredly scroll along with the sermon on iPads featuring Apple’s newest app, The iBook of Jobs.(Click on image to read a sample.)

The iBook of JobsCupertino-trained clergy will perform services hourly beginning at 10:00 am each day.

Going into direct competition with the Catholic Church, every Church of Apple will employ an Apple-certified Exorcist. For a one-time fee of $99, customers possessed by the demons of PCs or Android phones may have their evil spirits cast out.

Confessional booths at the rear of the Church will allow the faithful to gain absolution for a range of sins. (“Forgive me, father, for I have jail-broken my iPhone.”) However, Apple warns that repeat offenders will be subject to excommunication.

Customers feeling that they did not contribute enough during their visit to the Church of Apple may make use of the offering plate as they exit.

Spirit Animal Tan

P62

I was just looking at Groupon (because I'm cool like that), and I saw that they will customize the shade of your tan to your spirit animal. I thought that spirit animals were just something that they made fun of on Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory. Little did I know that they were important enough to determine the shade of your tan. I guess you learn something every day.

Staple Wars

Staple wars sound like a whole lot of fun right?  Boy do they!!!

Man Steals $240,000 from an Airplane Bathroom

Ok, after reading the title, you're probably like, WTF.  Why in the heck is there almost a quarter of a million dollars in an airplane bathroom.  Well, there isn't.  A man knew that there was a bag from the security company Brinks in the cargo hold that held $1.6 million.  He faked a stomach ache, went to the bathroom, pulled out some panels, and made his way into the cargo hold where he stole all of that money.

Rockmelt_thief_nabs_nearly_250

The unidentified crook complained of feeling sick and spent most of the flight in the bathroom, flight attendants told police.

But in fact, airline officials said, the man was tearing out panels in the restroom in order to crawl into the cargo hold.

A Brink's security guard had placed sacks of cash containing $1.6 million in the hold of the Air Antilles plane before it took off from Guadeloupe for a 40 minute trip to Saint Martin, according to Fox News.

The guard discovered that $238,000 was missing after he retrieved the sacks when the plane landed.

I think that the situation is pretty cool because this is the kind of thing that you see in a movie that you would never believe possible in real life.  That's pretty sick!  The guy is a thief, and he should be prosecuted if he gets caught, but until then he is a bad ass.

What do you think?  Tell me in a comment below.

iPhone 5 Rumors

MacRumors is already making predictions about the iPhone 5. They are hinting at the possibility of an aluminium back replacing try current glass one on the iPhone, which should eliminate the problems with cracking and scratching. They're also talking about an internal antenna to replace the external. This is far less interesting to me, but still pretty cool. Anyway, here's the article: http://www.macrumors.com/2011/03/07/iphone-5-to-get-aluminum-backing-redesign...

Kawasaki's Upcoming Futuristic, High-Tech Motorcycle

I just read an article on FastCompany that talks about a whole bunch of cool technology that is supposed to be part of the 1400 GTR as of this fall.

According to patent documents rooted out by Gizmag, Kawasaki is developing a rack of novel technologies for the next generation of its high-tech flagship motorcycle, the 1400 GTR. These include not only an infrared camera system, but also a helmet-mounted, heads-up display for projecting those pictures, and a collision avoidance system, which will detect and highlight potential dangers.

All of this sounds pretty cool, but I think a lot of people ride motorcycles because they are so much more raw than driving in cars.  People like to have the wind in their ears and feel the road beneath them.  I don't want a heads-up display and collision avoidance system on my bike.  I want the experience to be as analog as possible, just me and a roaring engine beneath me.

What do you think about these technological advancements?  Leave a comment below.

First Edition iPad or iPad 2

What is Morality?

This is a short "thought paper" that I wrote for my morality class.  The assignment was to give a working definition of morality in two hundred words.  A "thought paper" is a very informal sort of writing assignment where spelling, grammar, and construction don't matter.  The teacher just wants to see that you are, indeed, thinking about the question.

Here it is
To me, morality is a lot like having an exceptionally fast motorcycle, like face-melting fast.  The tremendous power to choose between good and evil, is a lot like having the tremendous power of a 1,000 cc racing bike at a turn of the wrist.  Furthermore, in both morality and motorcycles, there is a certain expectation to do good, to choose what is right, and not to hurtle down the road at 175 miles per hour.  Ultimately, morality is doing what is virtuous, regardless of your ability to choose evil.  Making the moral decision can often be hard, almost as bad as seeing a beautiful, straight, well-paved road stretching out in front of you for miles with a speed limit of 45.  As you look ahead, the road calls your name, begging you to get that engine up to 10,000 rpms, but alas, you cannot because you know that you must abide by the law.  You’re really going to want to make use of the raging machine beneath you, but you’ve got to do what is right, which is seemingly always less fun than doing what you want, just like making a moral decision.  Without morality,  the world would essentially collapse.  Humanity would return to its savage, primitive roots, caring only for themselves and no one else.
