Multitasking is Ruining the World

The world today is all jacked up.

Humanity has created a society that values quantity over quality.

You're probably thinking that I'm an idiot. Of course people still value nice things.

This is definitely true. People do still like nice things, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about multitasking.

Rather than doing one thing and one thing well, people try to do everything. They spread themselves too thin.

Kids today think that watching TV, listening to music, and texting their BFF all at once is something to be proud of, a badge of honor.

I'm here to tell you that this isn't the case. Rather than doing one thing and doing it well, they are doing three things and half-assing (third-assing) all three of them.

As humans, we can really only concentrate on one thing at a time. When the TV and the radio are on, you can really only focus in on one of them. That's just how humans are.

Chameleons have two eyes that move independently of each other, which allows them to look at two different things at once.

Humans don't have this advantage. Our eyes work together, an our ears work together. Our brain really only allows us to concentrate on one thing at once.

For this reason, you need to stop trying to do everything at the same time.

Take a few extra minutes and finish one thing before you start the next.
